“Mummy? Mummy! Are you my mummy?”

Whovian Running Club is pleased to present the second event of the 2020 season:

Empty Child 5k!

This year we celebrate those unforgettable moments when this eclectic science fiction series turned us from casual viewers into devoted fans. For so many Whovians, the equally alarming and emotional adventure of the Ninth Doctor and Rose during the London Blitz was such a moment. From Captain Jack and the nanogenes, to bombing raids and bananas, the two-part story is one of the most popular and memorable ever aired.

Your registration includes this beautiful 3″ medal featuring the gasmask that terrified a whole new generation of Whovians! On the back is the Doctor’s famed and heartwarming quote. As with every WRC medal, all registrants also receive the beautiful custom sublimated ribbon, and the always-popular personalized digital bib!

NOTICE: This event has SOLD OUT completely! Shirts will continue to be available until March 29 to add support to our charity partner, and UNLIMITED registrations will be made available again in September for our Timey Wimey year-end celebration event!

“What are they going to do? Arrest ya for starving?”

This famed story also presents us with a momentary view of children struggling to avoid hunger. With nothing to eat, they cleverly — but dangerously — use an air raid to find a meal. Millions of kids and their families live with food insecurity right now, not knowing from where or when their next meal will come. That’s why our charity partner for this event is The Sheridan Story!

The Sheridan Story is dedicated to fight child hunger through community and school partnerships. They organize “backpack programs” that send high quality healthy foods home for students who need it most, but they are more than that: they are an ever-growing network of weekend food programs operating in over 245 schools and growing.

Our support of The Sheridan Story will help ensure that kids have three filling, nutritious meals a day, every day, throughout the school year…and over the entire calendar year!

“Rose? By the way, love the tee-shirt.”

Our first modern companion may have been a little worried about wearing the Union Jack while hanging from a barrage balloon, but you’re going to feel fantastic wearing the “are you my mummy?” official event shirt!

Available in multiple fabrics and styles from tees, to tanks, to hoodies, proceeds will go also support The Sheridan Story!

“It’s got the power of a god, and I just sent it to its room.”

Remember that this is a ‘virtual’ active event, so you can complete your five kilometer distance however, wherever and whenever you want! How? You can walk, run, skip, dance, or saunter. Where? You can do it around your neighborhood, at the gym, on the treadmill, or on your favorite trail. When? You can do it on a Monday night, a Thursday morning, or a Saturday afternoon. It’s all up to you!

For some extra fun, the optional ‘run day’ for the event is March 11: John “Captain Jack” Barrowman’s birthday! If you want to join thousands of others around the world completing some or all of the distance on that day, you’ll be in some wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey company!

Registration closes at midnight on March 29. Medals will ship out the following week.
